Clinical summary

Summary

Researchers are looking for new ways to treat metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Researchers have designed a study medicine called ifinatamab deruxtecan (also called I-DXd or MK-2400) to treat mCRPC, which is a type of medicine called an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC). ADCs work by targeting a protein found on cancer cells and delivering treatment directly into the cell to damange it.

The goal of this study is to learn if people who receive I-DXd live longer overall and live longer without the cancer growing or spreading than people who receive chemotherapy.

Eligible participants will be randomly allocated to one of two treatment arms.

In the Experimental Arm, participants will receive I-DXd as an intravenous (IV) infusion every 3 weeks.

In the Active Comparator Arm, participants will receive docetaxel chemotherapy as an IV infusion every 3 weeks, and a corticosteroid called prednisone as an oral tablet once per day.

Conditions

This trial is treating people with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer that has progressed while on androgen deprivation therapy

Eligibility

Inclusion

The main inclusion criteria include but are not limited to the following:

  • Has diagnosis of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)
  • Has prostate cancer progression while on androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) (or post bilateral orchiectomy) within 6 months prior to entering the study
  • Has received prior treatment with 1 or 2 androgen receptor pathway inhibitor (ARPI) and progressed during or after at least 8 weeks of treatment

Exclusion

The main exclusion criteria include but are not limited to the following:

  • History of (non-infectious) interstitial lung disease (ILD)/pneumonitis that required steroids
  • Has uncontrolled or significant cardiovascular disease
  • Has received prior treatment with a taxane-based chemotherapy agent for mCRPC

Inclusion

  • Your cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic) or has grown into nearby parts of the body (locally advanced).
  • You have had treatment but your cancer has gotten worse or has not responded to the treatment you have been given.

Exclusion

  • You have certain types of non-cancer medical conditions.
  • You have had certain treatments, surgical procedures or drugs.
