Summary
This study is looking at how well a new treatment, called lutetium (177Lu) vipivotide tetraxetan (AAA617), works for people with oligometastatic prostate cancer - meaning the cancer has returned in a small number of spots after initial treatment of the prostate.
The goal of the study is to see whether this treatment can control the cancer early, prevent it from spreading further, and delay the need for androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), which often has significant side effects. By delaying ADT, the study hopes to help participants maintain a better quality of life.
Study details
Before joinig the study, all participants will have tests to confirm they are eligible. This includes detailed scans of the cancer using either a PSMA PET/CT scan (with Ga-68 PSMA-11) or, in some countries, a piflufolastat (18F) PET/CT scan, as well as standard CT/MRI and bone scans.
Everyone in the study will receive stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to all visible prostate cancer spots.
This is done after randomisation and before starting either the study treatment (AAA617) or the observation period. SBRT usually takes about 3 weeks to complete.
- If you are placed in the treatment group, you may receive up to 4 cycles of AAA617.
- If you are placed in the observation group, your study treatment ends once SBRT is completed.
Participants will have study visits during week 1 and 3 of each cycle (for both groups), and then visits every 16 weeks until the cancer shows signs of worsening.
The entire study is expected to last about 6.5 years.
